Who may apply for a scholarship?

Independence Area Dollars for Scholars believes all students should have the opportunity to continue education after graduation from high school. Graduating high school seniors of the Independence Community School District are eligible to apply for scholarships.

How are scholarships awarded?

By completing a student profile online, students become eligible for Independence Area Dollars for Scholars awards. An awards committee will score anonymously the applicants on work experience, school and community activities and academic record. In addition to awards made possible through fund raising efforts, Independence Area Dollars for Scholars serves as an umbrella for the administration of several local scholarships. Through this coordinated plan of scholarship giving, sponsors retain the name and criteria for their scholarship awards. These scholarship winners then benefit with the advantages of Independence Area Dollars for Scholars.
